Seibel was appointed to the Reddit board of directors in June 2020, replacing co-founder Alexis Ohanian who resigned following the murder of George Floyd and explicitly requested that a Black candidate fill his seat. Reddit cited Seibel as a 'longtime advocate of diversity and inclusion in the startup world.'
